MediaCoder Command Line is a cost-effective and easy-to-integrate solution for adding media transcoding functionality to a 3rd-party application or a web service. It shares the same codebase with MediaCoder, providing equilivant transcoding capability of MediaCoder as well as the possibility to be easily integrated as a background process, no matter what development language is used.

Command Line Syntax

mc [-switch <value>] [-o <output file name>] <input file>



  • -vbitrate: video bitrate in Kbps
  • -abitrate: audio bitrate in Kbps
  • -width: output video width (in pixels)
  • -height: output video height (in pixels)
  • -fps: output video frame rate
  • -srate: output audio sample rate
  • -startpos: start time position (ms)
  • -duration: duration to process (ms)
  • -cuda: enable CUDA acceleration
  • -msdk: enable Intel QuickSync/MSDK acceleration
  • -preset: load and apply a preset file (XML-based preset can be exported from MediaCoder GUI)


Command Line Example:

mc -vbitrate 400 -abitrate 64 -width 320 -height 240 -fps 15 -srate 22050 -startpos 5000 -o g:\out\test.mp4 g:\in\test.mpg
